The following article is a magazine preview of Megazone 23 Part II published in Anime V of April 1986, featuring the predictions of the editor's and some insights from Noboru Ishiguro.  Panorama Feature Mystery upon mystery in the Megazone Highlights & big ending expectations!! OUT - March 1986: "Sokihei Billion Buster" - Preview Article

The original pre-production working title for Sokihei M.D. Geist  was "Death Force", however, there was another interim working title, which OUT magazine refers to as "Sokihei Billion Buster" in their March 1986 edition. An alternate name for the Death Force machines as indicated in the Complete Collection Record book, this "Billion Buster" moniker would remain on the video sleeve, giving the OVA the full title of "Billion Buster Series: Sokihei M.D. Geist". The brief synopsis below describes an early version of the first half of the OVA. The name of the protagonist is MD, which is an abbreviation for “Most Dangerous”. In the late stages of the final war’s quagmire state, Geist was imprisoned in an artificial satellite.   Hayato Ikeda Director Born in Hakodate, Hokkaido. He entered the world of animation at the age of 21. After working as a production assistant at Toei Animation, he became an assistant director. In Showa Year 60 (1985) he became a freelancer and was in charge of directing the TV series “Touch” and storyboarding for the movie version of “Touch”. His best works include “Stop!! Hibari-kun!”, “GU-GU Ganmo” and many more. 31 years old. “This was my first time working with Mr. Ohata, who was responsible for the original draft. As for how we met, I worked with Unit Director Mr. Negishi previously, Ohata was also an acquaintance as well, the first thing he asked was “I have this type of project outline, but would you like to work together on it?”. Before the scenario came to be, we had preparatory meetings at the synopsis stage, but as the action elements were so thorough, I was also pleased with it from the beginning.
