Production Materials - Sokihei M.D. Geist: Complete Collection Record - "Geist Special"

This book is a compilation of production and promotional materials that was released shortly after the debut of the home video release. It contains a story digest featuring stills from the animation, concept and line art, as well as multiple interviews with the staff and cast. The opening section is a "Geist Special" feature which provides background on the character and setting.

After the end of the Christian Era, in the year 5843, an all new type of hero is born. Ruthless, cold, brutal, savage. A beast with a golden mane that suits such words. THAT is what Geist is!
Wherever he goes, all is destroyed without a trace. He dresses in battle armour, with a bazooka in his right hand and a spear in his left. All around him is the stench of death, and his eyes, which burn with a mysterious blue, every so often shine with evil. The Most Dangerous Soldier, Geist, a man with as much destructive power as one whole army, a bloodthirsty battle machine. The scent of gunpowder smoke drifts from his hair. As he returns to the ground once again, he turns the world into a hellish landscape. M.D.S.G. Now, behold Geist!!

In the flames of war, a flickering shadow comes near. Launcher Gun in one hand, a faint smile at the edge of his lips. His name is M.D. Geist. Former Jerra Special Forces Commander. A man with incredible destructive power as a result of Bioclone science. Now, the most dangerous man has returned!

M.D. Geist The Most Dangerous Man
History Of M.D.S.
‘The most dangerous man’, Geist. There is very little information regarding his birth and personal history. Based on that limited information, we would like to try and unravel the mystery of who Geist is.

Birth:
The name “Geist” is known to be of German origin by its spelling. It means “soul” or “spectre” and is derived from the word “poltergeist” (noisy spirit), a term which should be familiar from films and other such fiction and media. Since his facial features are closer to Aryan than Anglo-Saxon, it is safe to conclude that Geist’s parents, or at least one parent, were German and that he inherited a strong amount of Aryan blood.

Background (youth to adulthood):
No one knows about Geist as a boy. Therefore, the following is complete speculation, but in light of his subsequent actions, there are some agreeable findings. Geist’s father was a military man, or very close to the military, and was exceptional in this regard. A considered result of this is how Geist’s strategic knowledge and judgement in combat has not been cultivated by personal effort alone, rather his father mentored Geist from an early age. In addition, it seems that hard rigorous training was compulsory in order to maximise the physicality of his whole body. Legs that can run faster than anyone, arms that can carry many times their own weight, reflexes that can compare with an animal’s, and sharp vision, smell and hearing that are the result of early training. Later in life, as a result of Bioclone science, his fighting ability alone became comparable to that of an army, but this training during his youth cannot be understated. Naturally, a scientific training menu was provided in order to eliminate impairments that prevent growth (such as in the manner of sports injuries).

Career (Regular Army Enlistment):
Upon completing compulsory education, Geist, like other young men who have no hesitation about becoming a soldier, enrols in military academy. He leaves with outstanding results by graduation. However, an incident occurred during his time at the institute which changed his life. No, some say it was an accident. When it comes to the specific incident (or accident) however, many points are unclear. Both former colleagues and instructors stubbornly fall silent when broaching the subject. According to an unverified source, another cadet envied Geist’s highly superior skills, and he and a large number of other cadets were killed during a live firing exercise. Geist suffered for his own negligence, but at the same time found unprecedented joy in this slaughter… There is no guarantee the credibility of this information is high. However, with the thunderous presence of such a rumour to him, there is a certain degree of truth. Before long, the truth vanishes like a phantom. Thus, the former elite is assigned to the most cruel and blood-drenched unit of the Special Forces just as he wanted, to dirty his hands…

Battle Suit FITEX
Foreseeing the near future, “Geist” will introduce a fighting suit that is of a different flavour to robots or mobile suits, that is the “FITEX battle suit”. “In the near future, human beings will reclaim their unique mental and physical prowess from machine-robots. In this feature work, the battle suit FITEX is debuted, in which, unlike a mobile suit, it fits the human physique like the Japanese armour of old, and its power can be demonstrated through the strength of the physical body. At first glance, the outfit appears demonic, but as its motions are human, audiences can feel closer to the main character.” (Source: press sheet) Depending on the character, its appearance varies, but as the name “Sokihei” suggests, the armour’s appearance can be described like that of a “demon”. Crucially, Geist’s affixed FITEX mask reveals only ruthless blue eyes, and the metallic protective guards that surround the face extend upwards as if they were his own horns. By appearing in his battle suit with a bazooka in one hand, he alone turns into a spectre.

Geist’s suit belonged to a fallen soldier who was attacked by a roving biker gang. He defeated their leader, Golem, and took the suit for himself. The shoulders come first, followed by attaching the protectors for the upper arms and the fists. Next, the computer box is fixed to the chest. The hooks make a ‘click’. Then, on the waist, legs and knees, a protector is set one after the other. Wearing his powered suit, there is an unearthly aura to him, Geist transforms into a one-man killing machine. Finally the mask is attached, and the machine ignites.

By wearing this suit, he as one man can have as much destructive energy as one army. He appeared before the Jerra soldiers in his FITEX suit as the attack on the Brain Palace was underway. Such intensity is breathtaking.

FITEX suits of the Regular Army
The FITEX battle suit is not exclusive to Geist. It was originally the official battle suit of the Jerra Regular Army. Its appearance is less intense than Geist’s, but the basic structure is the same. The FITEX, which can only be used by capable soldiers, is said to be a status symbol among them. Moreover, the colours and silhouette vary slightly depending on the class, so rank can be evidenced at a glance. In that respect, its relationship as a status symbol is more severe than cars or clothing. It’s tough in the army.

Colonel Crutes Suit:
The colour is whitish metallic moss green.

General Commander Suit:
In purple. Notice that the shape of the mask is different from that of the colonel’s.

Program D
There are four phases to the Jerra Regular Army’s war operation.
  • Program A (Aggressive) is conventional land, sea and air warfare.
  • Program B (Burning) is nuclear war.
In the aftermath of this, Geist returned to the surface from his confinement on the artificial satellite.
  • Program C (Catastrophe) is post-nuclear combat.
The story of “Geist” takes place in the era of Program C. On Jerra, the battle between the Regular Army and the emergent Negsrom Army continued to rise even after the end of the nuclear conflict. However, with the introduction of the manned Powered Machine, which had been developed to the actual combat stage, and the strategic success of VTOL aerial formation operations, the momentum was now on the side of the Negsrom Army as the Regular Army was all but destroyed. Program D (Death Force) is the final stage.

Program “D” is the name of the strongest and largest retaliatory attack system that activates after the destruction of the Jerra Regular Army. Its codename is “Billion Buster”. When Program D is executed, tens of millions of Billion Buster machines on Jerra are activated, initiating a full indiscriminate attack on all lifeforms. The launch is enacted by the main computer of the Jerra Regular Army’s key strategic centre “Brain Palace”. With the assassination of President Ryan, the head of the Regular Army, the preparations for Program D began. Colonel Crutes, his special forces and Geist, storm the Brain Palace to stop it. The time limit is 11 hours and 45 minutes.
