Sōkihei M.D. Geist Special Edition
That’s M.D., short for “Most Dangerous”!!
Several hundred years after the end of the Christian Era. Humanity has advanced into space, spreading the seeds of its culture to the multitude of star systems. That act alone should have made for a dazzling future for humanity. However, as was characteristic in the history of earth, the flames of war were not extinct in any star system. Not even this planet, Jerra, was exempt. The battle was between the Negsrom Army and the Regular Army. The many humans of Jerra were dragged in too. One man was born out of that battle. “Geist” - he as one man had the battle strength of one army alone. That’s why he was called “M.D.” - the most dangerous man. Unable to control his bloodlust, the Regular Army imprisoned him in an artificial satellite orbiting the planet Jerra. However, the artificial satellite fell to the surface as a result of the impact of constant battles on Jerra. Once again, Geist has returned to the hellish flames of war. The insane blood in his body began to coarse. Now, no one can stop him. “My game is just getting started”, Geist grinned. He is a man who will do unthinkable things.
M.D. Geist, the most dangerous man
Regular Army Special Forces Commander. Thanks to Bioclone theory, he possesses combat strength that far surpasses ordinary men. However, his fighting method was far too ferocious. Therefore, in the year 5843, he was imprisoned in a satellite for being the most dangerous being in existence, thus, that is the profile of “Geist”. Director Hayato Ikeda told us next about him: “Even though bishōjō are the mainstream in original video animation now, that isn’t what I wanted to do. The reason I make a film is because I want to make something with a sense of photography. So, “Geist” was born. He is a man of fighting instinct. Like a wild animal, he lives only on an instinct that humans have lost in favour of their intellect”. In other words, “Geist” is not merely portrayed as a bloodthirsty lunatic. It can be agreed there is a bit based on “First Blood” and “Mad Max” in that sense. This is what the staff wanted, it aims for the true meaning of original animation on video. Mr. Ikeda declared that he wanted to make violence and action thrilling to see instead of heavy themes. Now that there are a lot of OVAs similar to TV shows coming out, this looks like one to look out for. “Your name is on this plate. G-E-I-S-T. Such a strong name…”, Paia initiates.
Battle Suit "FITEX"
“Little by little, mainstream power shifted from humans to machines and robots, the action was taken onboard heavily-armed giant robots. However, in the near future, human beings will have their individual minds and bodies awakened with the creation of fighting suits instead of machine-robots. That is what is currently being researched in America. A battle suit of armour on par with a tank. For that reason, in this production, the “FITEX” battle suits are debuted, differentiating themselves from Mobile Suits by fitting the human shape like the Japanese armour of old and fully realising for the first time the power of the human body” (source: concept outline). On the shoulders, protectors are set. A stopper finishes off the shoulders. The computer box is affixed to the chest, hooks set. The lower back protector is set. Covers for the waist and mid-section are set. The guard stopper comes up. Joints on the knees are set. Geist has equipped the suit.
(Inset Caption) Geist’s original suit, by wearing this he becomes even stronger. He is equipped with a bazooka, an iron spear, shotgun and a high-frequency oscillation knife carried on his waist. His eyes are all that gleam through his mask.
(Inset Caption) Geist has emerged from the fallen artificial satellite. He obtains the suit that was worn by the runaway soldier who was slain by a biker gang. “Not bad… You scum, this is only of use to me!”, Geist answered to the boss of the biker gang, “Golem”.
(Inset Caption) The design evokes Japanese armour. The “Armoured Demon Soldier” in the name refers to the “demon” aspect of the FITEX design.
FITEX Commanders
“FITEX” Commanders of the Regular Army. Above is how it appears on the commander of the Noah Guards battleship, Colonel Crutes. Below is how it appears on the rest of the crew. Fundamentally they are similar to Geist’s suit. The FITEX Commanders are glorious soldiers.
(Inset Caption) Commanders who storm the Brain Palace. Death awaited them.
Noah Guards
The below images are of the valiant figure of the land battleship Noah Guards. It has four rotating gun platforms, two on both sides. For Colonel Crutes, it’s as beloved as a car (a beloved tank!?), a base of operations, and ultimately, a place he feels at ease. Colonel Crutes, a strong battle-hardened soldier, is the superior officer of Hans, Lester, Jacques, Sakamoto, and is a combatant at the same time. The hot-blooded Crutes is not content to merely give orders to his subordinates, he personally throws himself into the front line of danger. Thus, when the Noah Guards loses its conductor, it also loses its chain of command. However, the way he selflessly faces danger makes him the model image of a soldier. The respect of his subordinates runs deep, too. Geist and Crutes also met during combat. During the siege by the Negsrom Powered Machines, Geist appeared like a saviour. Geist destroyed the Negsrom one by one, Crutes was saved from danger. “Thanks to you, the Noah Guards was able to escape from peril”, “I previously belonged to the Regular Army, too. It’s an honour to be part of the fight”. Escaping doom, Crutes thanks Geist. Geist replies humbly. However, Crutes saw it, around Geist’s neck - the plate of the M.D.S.! The title of soldiers who were exiled for their excessively overwhelming fighting ability… M.D.S. Moreover, Geist’s imprisonment in an artificial satellite and his banishment to space was by none other than Colonel Crutes!! Crutes involves Geist in an operation to halt a Program, and if possible, bury him at the same time in the Brain Palace. As Geist fights the robot, Crutes stops the Program. Although he lost his allies, he accomplished his mission, but then…!
Transport Unit VTOL
The Negsrom Army's transportation unit for supplies and soldiers. Negsrom carried out large-scale aerial operations using squadrons of these VTOL machines, achieving great success. Thanks to these air drop operations, the momentum is on the side of the Negsrom and the Regular Army is in a precarious position. At that time, it was the Special Forces led by Geist that saved the Regular Army from destruction.
In addition to this, various other designs appear in the film, such as the Negsrom Powered Machine, FITEX, anchor bikes, three-point bikes and two-seater bikes.
Comrades on the battlefield
Paia
She is the mistress of the boss of the biker gang. After the boss is killed, she moves toward Geist. She plans to use him to make big money. She tries to seduce Geist in order to win him over.
Mash
A member of the biker gang.

Geist and Paia meet as he defeats Golem
Geist encounters a standoff between a group of bikers and a wounded power suit soldier in a ghost town. The soldier in the power suit was fleeing from the battlefront, and the biker gang are who plunder them for weapons and food. Geist kills the boss of the gang, “Golem”, in a fight to the death with no rules. That strength terrifies the biker gang.
In battle, Geist ignites!!
Battle - that is what is Geist’s “game” and his “purpose”. His reason for living is to defeat as many enemies as possible - it all comes down to this. The battle at the Brain Palace revealed the true nature of the man known as Geist. Armed with a bazooka, iron spear and shotgun, Geist and Crutes were awaiting a sinister statue. The statue raised its axe and attacked! Geist blocked the axe using his bazooka and delivered fierce punches to its face and chest! When the outer layer of the statue was broken, the Robot’s real form appeared from within. Breaking its body apart, it attacked Geist section by section!! At the moment the parts reassembled, Geist trapped his arms in between. The Robot was unable to reassemble and exploded and failed, but Geist’s body was also breaking…
(Inset Caption) A defence machine that protects the Brain Palace. Modelled on birds of prey, it moves as quickly as its design looks. It attacks its enemies from the sky, firing its cannons and crushing underfoot, but if its leg parts are damaged it will be unable to take off or land.
(Inset Caption) The statue waiting in the Brain Palace. It doesn’t flinch even when hit by a direct hit from a bazooka. It cuts down its enemies with the axe in its right hand. Although its normal appearance is a statue, in an emergency it melts its facade armour from its body, revealing its robot form.
(Inset Caption) Inside the statue is this robot. Its incredible power is so high that even Geist spits blood when strangled. It separates its arms, legs, head and other parts and crashes into its enemy. However, there is a opening at the point of reassembly.
What is Program "D"!?
What is Program D!? It is the largest and deadliest retaliatory attack system in the Jerra Regular Army. “D” stands for Death Force, its codename is Billion Buster. Billion Buster machines react to all lifeforms and attack indiscriminately. When Program D is launched, tens of millions of Billion Buster machines will swarm the entire planet of Jerra. In other words, the launch of Program D guarantees the extinction of all things and Jerra will become a star of death. At Sandoria Garden, President Ryan, the head of the Regular Army, died. As a result, Brain Palace, the vital strategic centre of the Jerra Regular Army, is preparing to activate Program D during the frozen war state. The time limit until activation is 11 hours and 45 minutes!! The mission of Geist and the others is to storm the Brain Palace with the land battleship Noah Guards and stop the activation of the Program! The countdown to activation is fast approaching. Will Crutes, Hans, Lester, Jacques, Sakamoto and Geist be able to stop the Program from launching!?
Hironobu Kageyama: The hard rock theme song!
Geist’s Theme: Merciless Soldier
Ending Theme: Violence of the Flame
What did you feel about them after singing?
Kageyama: “They’re energetic songs. I wanted to do the recording with guts, and I sang them hard.”
Woah, the Osaka dialect!
Kageyama: “Yeah man, hasn’t changed at a~ll.”
Do you like the theme song yourself!?
Kageyama: “It’s flashy, I like flashy songs.”
The opening and ending themes are different.
Kageyama: “The ending theme is the flashier song, it’s sung like it’s a live song. The opening theme is a little calmer, it’s like the beginning of something.”
Do you like anime!?
Kageyama: “Yeah, I like it, that’s why I think I was lucky to be able to sing an anime theme song, and ‘Geist’ is violent and rock-like, right? It's heavy metal-like, so I think the songs and the anime go perfectly together.”
Everyone is so drawn to the anime, you don’t think your presence is in the songs?
Kageyama: “That I think is a good thing. It matches the drama nicely. The best thing would be if people got interested in rock music from hearing it. I think I’m happy that I’m on the image of an anime and can sing with that image.”
Thank you very much. Born in Osaka on February 18 Showa Year 36 (1961), 25 years old, real name Hiroyoshi Kageyama. Famous for being the vocalist of the band LAZY with the stage name “Michell”, formed in Osaka.
